Caring For Your Jewellery

Whilst the utmost care is taken when making your jewellery, it is also very important to note that care also needs to be taken after you receive your beautiful pieces.

Fresh Water Pearls

Fresh Water Pearls are considered to be a softer organic gemstone, and due to this, proper care and maintenance will help to preserve their luster and radiance over time. Wiping Pearls over with a soft cloth after wear will help to reduce oil and debris build up and will help to maintain the longevity, colour and beauty of the gems.

Storing Pearls with other jewellery items can subject them to marking and scratching so we recommend keeping your jewellery safe when not being worn by storing it away from other jewellery and in a soft bag or case.

Prolonged exposure to water and chemical elements such as lotions, tan, perfume and sunscreen can tarnish pearls and dull their brilliance and luster over time and thus should be avoided. It is best to remove any pearl jewellery before swimming or showering to prevent this and if jewellery is exposed to moisture, simply wipe down with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.

925 Sterling Silver

Caring for Sterling Silver is much the same as caring for Fresh Water Pearls. As with Pearls, it is important to keep your pieces as dry and clean as possible to increase their longevity and luster. Sterling Silver can be effected by various chemicals such as chlorine and other chemicals that may be found in lotions and perfumes so it best to avoid exposure to these elements.

Sterling silver also requires proper cleaning procedures and storage in a soft pouch is recommended when not being worn. If jewellery does become dirty it is safe to use a microfiber cloth or a mild dish washing soap and water solution to gently clean the items.

One final note is that Sterling Silver is a soft metal. Although great care has been taken to design and create each piece, it is important to note that Sterling Silver is quite easy to shape and move around, therefore pieces need to be handled with care to maintain their shape and appearance. From time to time, and with prolonged wear, pieces may slightly lose their shape or bend out of place. Do not be alarmed if this occurs as it is very easy to straighten or reshape the pieces by hand by gently molding them back into their original position.
